Chairlift on Whistler mountain.

We’re listening to all of your comments about our show Après Ski. We’re pleased to see so much interest in the show but we also want to clear up any misconceptions. After each episode we will do a Q&A with Joey Gibbons, which is designed to set the record straight. Please feel free to email us directly with any concerns, comments or questions about the show.

People were wondering where Tamara was throughout the controversy with Elise?

Joey: We brought in Tamara for her expertise in the travel industry, as it was a new concept for Gibbons. It was understood from the outset that Tamara would have to be in Toronto for several weeks of the season to run her very successful company, Ascent Behave.

Why did you go to school in Pemberton if you are from Whistler?

Joey: In 1994, when I graduated, there was no high school in Whistler. In fact, there was only 30 of us who graduated that year from a 100km radius. Today, over 100 kids are born in Whistler each year and it is one of the best places on earth to raise a family.

The people on social media seem to have a problem with Jim coming to you instead of going to Tamara. What do you think?

Joey: We’ve always had an open-door policy at Gibbons and, with Tamara being away, Jim felt compelled to speak up on behalf of his team. We like to run a very flat organization and don’t believe in the concept of ‘people speaking over people.’ Everyone has a voice.

Why was Lynsey allowed to travel so much throughout the season?

Joey: Lynsey is one of the top professional skiers in the world. The fact that she agreed to be on our team was a real honour. She created some incredible experiences when she was here with us. We understood that she would have to go on ski trips and to photo shoots throughout the winter season.

How come you guys have a bobsleigh track in Whistler?

Joey: It was built for the 2010 Olympics. I was at the track during the competitions and it was awesome!
