Have you ever taken the time to ask the simple question of those around you: Are you happy? Are you the kind of happy that comes from a satisfying and fulfilled life?

It’s something I think about more and more as we look to the future and start to really think about taking Gibbons to the next level.

For the past several years, we’ve been posing the same question to our team every three months: Would you recommend Gibbons as a place to work? Culturally, we’re the happiest we’ve ever been. We’re climbing towards a response level that world-class organizations aim to achieve. That’s no small feat, and it’s all thanks for our amazing team!

While the latest results are interesting on their own, it’s the pattern over time that I find most revealing. Ever since we started measuring this one facet within our organization, we’ve seen our responses get better and better. That’s because we’re giving our team the forum to tell us how we can continually improve as a company. We want to find ways to keep our team engaged and loyal and proud to work at Gibbons. And while we’re never perfect, we truly strive to get there.

Interesting too, that as we find ourselves at our happiest culturally, our business is at its best financially. Fluke? No way. A happy team translates in no small measure to happy guests in Whistler. Happy guests then translate to booming businesses, the kind of places that everyone want to be a part of whether it’s behind the bar or in front of it.

I’m intrigued by the answers to that question, which I think give us a fairly good snapshot of the happiness of life within our organization. The most recent survey results, which include our hospitality teams, our festival and events teams, and our brewery and travel divisions, are the best they have ever seen.
