New Year’s Eve in Whistler

Whistler is famous for it’s New Year’s Eve celebrations. As a renowned winter destination for its skiing and snowboarding terrain, this resort town also hosts killer parties and events.

Vallea Lumina

Venture outside of the village to Cougar Mountain, a short 10-minute drive north of the village to experience a multi-media night walk in pursuit of adventure. The lights will guide you through an immersive walk through Whistler’s old-growth forest. Follow the story to reveal wonder. A must-see while visiting!

  • What to bring: As the walk takes place outside, all proper winter clothes are a must. Dress for the weather with proper boots to keep you warm for the 30-45 minute tour. 

Pro tip: Finish up the tour with a hot chocolate around the firepits at Base Camp.

Whistler Village Events

Enjoy a full day of activities & entertainment throughout the village. As the sun goes down gather at Skiers Plaza for a special holiday edition of the Fire & Ice Show, an athletic display of Whistler’s best skiers & snowboarders, which drew in a crowd including Alicia Keys and more last year. Watch as they perform technical jumps, flips, and spins through a fire hoop (a must see while visiting). Following the show, there will be an early countdown & a fireworks display. Pro tip: The best locations for viewing the fireworks display are Longhorn Saloon Patio, Black’s Pub patio, Gibbons Life Condos & The Pan Pacific.

As the night comes closer to a close, that’s when the festivities begin.

Something different

FireRock Lounge is having a Disco Inferno party! Known for its crafted cocktails, the FireRock is a great option if you’re looking to ring in the new year in a sophisticated way and with some extra sparkle. Their wine and champagne lists boast to be some of the best in the village.

On the other side of the spectrum, Tapley’s Pub will be extending its operating hours for NYE to host everyone and anyone who wants to celebrate. Come party where the locals do. Doors open until 2 am! No tickets needed!

If you’re not jumping up the mountain to ski or snowboard there’s no better way to kick off the new year than with a hike (or walk)—whatever you prefer.
