WHISTLER NETBALL LEAGUE

The Whistler Netball League was founded in October 2012. There are now three seasons a year – winter, fall and spring. The league is mixed team competition held at Myrtle Philip Community School’s inside gym, and in the spring we move outside to the courts at Spruce Grove.

The league has been started so any expats and those who love the game of netball can play again (or get their friends involved in a new sport). It is a fun league allowing teams and individuals to register and play.

If you have any questions or are interested in joining a team, please feel free to contact Steph Ball at: whistlernetballleague@gmail.com

TEAM NOTES

  • A team must have 5 of its own players not to forfeit
  • A team will forfeit if late to their starting time by more than 5 minutes
  • Notify Steph before noon on game day if team needs to forfeit.
  • A team can forfeit but still play a scratch match if they can court 7 players from any teams.
  • The “guy rule” is 3 guys to the court at one time. They must be spread amongst each third. Combination examples are: GA/WA/GK or GS/C/GD etc.
  • Umpires are volunteers. Please respect their calls. Their call is final.
  • If you think the umpiring is inconsistent then please approach the umpire between quarter breaks.
  • Nails and Jewelry – Nails are to be cut short. No jewelry is to be worn. No necklaces or bracelets are to be worn. If they cannot be removed they must be completely covered by tape.
  • Shoes – All players must have outside shoes and change into their gym shoes in the hallway. The courts become very slippery and dangerous when outside shoes bring in salt, dirt and snow. Please make sure your players are wearing appropriate playing shoes – volleys and the likes are not safe or acceptable.

KEY: P – Played; W – Wins; L – Losses; GF – Goals For; GA – Goals Against; GD – Goal Difference;

Pts – Points (Win = 2 pts, Loss = 0 pts, Draw = 1 pt). Position on ladder is based on Points and Goal %.

If teams are even on points at the conclusion of the regular rounds, teams will be ranked by goal percentages.

If two teams are still equal after goal percentage, the results of matches between the two teams will decide the higher ranked team.

If the teams are still equal, then they are measured by goal difference across all games (goals for minus goals against).

If still equal, the higher ranked team will be the one with most goals scored for overall games in the regular rounds
