Après and Whistler. Whistler and après. It’s a match made in mountain heaven and Gibbons has always been in the heart of it all.
For the past 37 years we’ve been serving guests at après from all over the world.
They come to Whistler to ski and snowboard and mountain bike and golf and hike; après is a critical part of their Whistler experience. Based on what our customers have been ordering for almost four decades, we’ve come to understand what they want to drink after a day in the mountains.
So, we’ve taken all our experience and all our knowledge, and poured it into… our very own beer. Not just any beer. We’ve aimed to create the perfect après lager.
That’s no mean feat, I admit, but everything is falling into place to make this a reality. We have a dream team of innovative leaders; we have years of experience to give weight to our decisions; and we have a brewery that is up to the challenge.
Just as Corona makes you think of a vacation in a bottle and drinking a light, cold beer on a warm, sandy beach, our Gibbons Après Lager is a fresh, chilled, locally-made beer that will make you want to relive your day in the mountains — an après in a bottle!
Here’s a little insight into what we’ve learned over the years:
We know, for example, that après drinkers want a simple cold beer to quench their thirst after a day of adventure; we know it has to be something that appeals to the masses, nothing too crafty or hoppy or uniquely distinct, a beer that goes down easily. Most of all, we know the beer should be a background player to the whole après scene. Après isn’t about the beer. Après is all about people — sharing their experiences in the mountains, regaling each other with tales of floating over fresh powder, finding new lines, pushing their limits, doing things they never thought they would do. The beer is a minor but crucial part of the equation. It’s the thing that makes après flow, the thing that keeps après going.
So just pause for a minute and think: What does après taste like to you? We genuinely want to know. Drop us a line or even a word that sums it all up.
We’re on our fourth iteration of this brew now. It’s produced at our Deep Cove Brewery and Distillery. We’ve had the latest formula out for over a year now. It’s been selling at our Whistler bars and we’ve been taking the feedback from our customers and will continue to make it even better.
We’re confident in where we’ve landed with this product, and believe we’re ready for primetime. But we want to know what you think.
Swing by the Longhorn or Tapley’s the next time you’re in Whistler — each has its own unique après scene — and try a Gibbons Après Lager on tap.
Please share your feedback on Gibbons Après Lager, it’s important to us.
