Formed in 2008, multi-award winning internationally renowned alternative rock band The Strumbellas have built their career on crafting exceptional songs, easily connecting with fans through their honest and relatable lyricism and versatile sound. The two-time JUNO Award winners have spent much of their time on the road, delivering standout performances at such notable festivals as Bonnaroo, Governor’s Ball, Lollapalooza, Austin City Limits and more.
Their 2016 studio album Hope gained international attention with single ‘Spirits’ topping the Billboard Alternative Songs chart, earning them the JUNO Award for ‘Single of the Year’ and a coveted performance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. ‘Spirits’ has since been certified 3x Platinum in Canada and Italy, Platinum in Germany, and Gold in Belgium, France and the United States. Their 2019 release Rattlesnake and lead single ‘Salvation’ garnered another TV performance opportunity, this time on Late Night with Seth Meyers, and the track went on to win the band a 2020 SOCAN ‘Rock Music’ Award.
The Strumbellas are Jimmy Chauveau (lead vocals, acoustic guitar), Jeremy Drury (percussion), Jon Hembrey (guitar), Darryl James (bass), Isabel Ritchie (strings), David Ritter (keys), and Simon Ward (songwriter).
Since that first (99-2000) ski season together as a band, The Hairfarmers have cultivated their West Coast “ski bum” musical style to include everything from Johnny Cash to Jimi Hendrix and U2, Bob Dylan to Led Zeppelin and Coldplay, Willie Nelson to the Grateful Dead. The Black Keys to Taylor Swift! Country, rock, blue grass, reggae, folk…. you name it, they’ll play it…their song list is at around 2500 songs. So, what’s a Hairfarmers show all about? That depends on everything from the weather to the cycles of the moon. As they never plan anything prior to a performance, the band themselves would say something like “you have to feel the room and the people in it and choose the songs accordingly…. it’s about finding the music that will take the audience and the band to that place where the fun happens.
Voted “Whistler’s favorite band” every year since 2001, The Hairfarmers are here to stay, playing 250 shows a year and providing the soundtrack to the Whistler experience every season for thousands of locals and visitors alike. Whether at home or on the road, The Hairfarmers will put a smile on your face and a tune in your ear…catch them if you can!

Having cultivated his craft and developed an appreciation and deep understanding of delivering music to the dance floor, Stache mixes high-level energy and melodic funky grooves to perfection. Always guaranteed to get a party started!

Boy Golden has a purpose: enjoy each day and make good music. Founder and minister of The Church of Better Daze, he wants to help people seeking to improve on yesterday’s themes. His songs, like hymns, are hopeful, fresh, and upbeat. KD & Lunch Meat is fluorescent and fun, like its namesake, and easily ingested. Something to Work Towards searches for the meaning in life, while Smoke on the Breeze and Any Way It Works are warm, tender and linger like perfume. Church of Better Daze is the inspirational, musical manifesto. The harmonies are the collective idea of working together, the mellow melodies keep our hopes alive, and the lyrics are golden rules to live by: Follow your heart / Make good art / Call your momma / Work real hard.
Redefining jam band and stoner cultures by turning dead heads into lively brains, Boy Golden wants to unite us all in a hazy dream under one roof. “We’re all the same at the Church of Better Daze,” he sings. Find unity in the congregation of these 11 tracks, which redefine the precedent for collaboration, common goals and cannabis. If you’re open to learn, and can speak your truth, you can blaze and still get paid in Boy Golden’s Church of Better Daze.

Heather Paul
MC Extraordinaire
Heather Paul has lived in Whistler for the past 21 years, intending to stay only for one season. She soon fell in love with snow, summer, and sipping on patios. She works behind the scenes at the Squamish Lil’wat Cultural centre, but is better known as a local MC, playwright and actress in Whistler’s Short Skirt Theatre Company. Beer is in Heather’s family blood, and when not in Whistler she can be often found washing glasses in exchange for free cases at Dave Paul’s Qualicum Beach nano-craft brewery, Loveshack Libations. In 2017 Heather was the recipient of Whistler’s ‘Citizen of the Year’. She is pretty sure the absence of Facebook and social media during her first few years in this community really nailed her qualifications for the humbling honour. In 2018 Heather was named one of Mountain Life Magazine’s Top 5 Women Leaving a Lasting Imprint on Mountain Culture. She has a kid and a bank account for vacations.
