The Adventure Group’s (TAG) mission is to create spectacular experiences for people that lead to moments of personal growth. Vallea Lumina is an evening excursion that follows cryptic radio transmissions and the lingering traces of two long-ago hikers to find the scenic trailhead where the real journey begins. Vallea Lumina is a 1.5km pathway through an old-growth forest that takes visitors of all ages on an hour-long night walk in pursuit of hidden wonders, telling a story that unfolds in chapters along the way.

Reporting to the Assistant Manager -Vallea Lumina, the Lumina Experience Guide supports the nightly operations of the Lumina attraction and base facility delivery. The Lumina Experience Guide is front facing, on the ground, coordinating a smooth nightly delivery. This is a part time role, with the ideal candidate being able to work 3-5 shifts or 15-25 hours/week.

Responsibilities and Deliverables:

  • Upholds the highest-level standard of behaviors aligned to culture, vision, mission and values
  • Provides supervisor with feedback regarding the operation and provides the best guests experience possible
  • Greet guests attending Vallea Lumina at Cougar Mountain base
  • Provides guidance and assistance throughout the experience and provides attraction information to guests
  • Highlight guest’s complaints or problems to a Supervisor and respond to concerns and make sure they leave satisfied
  • Safety is a priority in the wilderness, keep trails clean and tidy of debris
  • Maintain order and ensure adherence to safety rules
  • Notify Supervisor of issues or persons without tickets or passes
  • Guide guests to exits or provide other instructions or assistance in case of emergency
  • Provide operational guidance and support to ensure Vallea Lumina and Cougar Base Operations, operate and comply with all safety regulations as it pertains to COVID-19
  • Ensure compliance in all aspects of SOP’s related to COVID-19
  • Provide Management feedback and input to improve safety processes and as it pertains to running TAG while keeping our guests and employees safe from COVID-19
  • We are proud to have a dynamic team who roll up their sleeves to get the work done. As such, this role may require helping out other team members and departments as required

Key Qualifications and Attributes: 

  • Interest in tourism, adventure tourism and/or activity operational delivery
  • Experience in customer service role an asset
  • Serving it right certificate is considered an asset, applicants may be asked to obtain if not certified
  • Proven ability in building and sustaining strong working relationships
  • Demonstrated excellence in communication. Clearly communicates key messages in a timely and efficient manner. Listens to understand information before reacting or responding
  • Proven ability to stay calm under pressure. Maintains clear thinking and sound judgment especially at busiest times in the operation
  • Positive attitude and takes a collaborative approach to working with all departments
  • Fluent in English, both writing and verbal, required
  • Must be available to work weekends and evenings
  • First aid certification is an asset
  • Physically fit, able to lift up to 30 lbs, able to work outdoors on uneven terrain for majority of shift
