Australia Day celebrations in Whistler make sense for a few reasons. 1. As it falls, January 26th is the national day for the land down under. January is arguably the best time to ski & snowboard in whistler. The town is the most lively during the first few months of the year. 2. Due to a large amount of Aussies residing in Whistler, it’s a very important day for our resort town, so important that celebrations are not just limited to one day.
Here is our guide on how to celebrate Australia Day in Whistler.
Party like an Aussie—everyone is Koala-fied to party on Australia Day.
Longhorn Saloon will be celebrating in style with the first Legendary Patio Party of the year by presenting BAYNK. As an electronic producer from New Zealand, BAYNK wins the crowd over with his tropical house and live instrumentation. Best known for his song “go with u”. The party kicks off at 2:00 pm but Longhorn will have festivities going from open to close!

If you’re Aussie missing home—Black’s will make sure it tastes like home! They will also have live DJ’s during the day playing some classic Australia day anthems.

But it doesn’t stop there—Friday, January 27th at 5pm the Triple J Hottest 100 streams live!
Not sure what we’re talking about? Let us fill you in. Triple J is a popular radio station streamed across the country and online. Annually they do a Hottest 100 countdown where they play, the top songs from the previous year. The top songs are unknown until they stream live. This countdown is popular across the whole country therefore, it would just be wrong for us to not join in on the action.
Tapley’s Pub, traditionally a local’s hang out will be hosting their streaming “house party”. This event is first-come-first-serve so be sure to come grab a table early!
Moe Joe’s will be cracking its doors open at 5 pm for the countdown. Expect music & a sausage sizzle out front—just like back in Australia! Barbeque will be firing while quantities last, with veggie options.
Black’s Pub will keep the theme rolling from Thursday to Friday, hosting their own Triple J streaming party.
