Stunning scenery from Whistler Peak

We’re listening to all of your comments about our show Après Ski. We’re pleased to see so much interest in the show but we also want to clear up any misconceptions. After each episode we will do a Q&A with Joey Gibbons, which is designed to set the record straight. Please feel free to email us directly with any concerns, comments or questions about the show.

There are few #apresski Twitter posts questioning how nice Canadians are. Can you comment?

Joey: The Canadians that we have on the show, and most of the Canadians that I know, are wonderful people. When filming a television show the cameras are on you 24 hours a day and every moment is captured, even the bad ones. Everyone on the team is awesome.

The professionalism of your concierges has been questioned. What are your thoughts?

Joey: We hired the best of the best from across North America: Top chefs, fashionistas from the luxury market, the best skiers in the world and people with strong local connections. Anytime you get this many experts together it takes a while to gel and find the right harmony in the group. Keep watching — you’ll see that they will start to find their rhythm together.

Why did you bring on team members who don’t have mountain experience?

Joey: What people don’t understand about Whistler is that our summers have become busier than our winters. The mountain experience no longer defines our resort. The experience in the Village has become just as important, if not more important, than the on-hill experience.

A lot of people outside of Whistler don’t believe your team or company are real.

Joey: The best explanation I can give you there is go to our website, book a trip, come to Whistler and let us knock your socks off! We are the real deal and excited to showcase our businesses in front of millions. You may also be interested in checking out my blog and why we started Gibbons Life.
