SKI Magazine accolade for Whistler.

Prestigious ski publication, SKI Magazine, ranked Whistler as the #1 destination in North America for après – oh, and for skiing too. The poll is in its 27th year, so we guess they know a thing or two about ski resorts…

Whistler was named the best ski resort, by Ski Magazine.

SKI does an annual survey of 20,000 reader reviews that examine on-mountain and resort-wide amenities and services in North America and these lovely readers ranked Whistler as their number one overall ski destination for the second time in three years – we beat out Deer and Sun Valley to get the accolade this year round.

Our readers are smart, savvy, well-traveled and consistently blown away by Whistler’s vastness and variety, both on and off the hill. I wholeheartedly agree with the reader who wrote: ‘Every skier should have Whistler on a bucket list.’ Andy Bigford, SKI publisher.

As local writer, Vince Schuley, points out in his article for the Question newspaper, the team here at Gibbons are… “concerned with a specific time: the hours between when skiers and snowboarders leave the hill and bedtime.”

This time is party time – whether that means a few beers to celebrate a day in the pow or an entire evening of throwing shapes on the dance floor. And we’ve been helping people create these memories since 1979.

Gibbons has literally been celebrating après and supporting ski bums for the last 35 years, so this award means a lot to us.

We’re blessed with living in one of the most beautiful places in the world and we’re able to attract some of the best minds from around the world. You put good people in a good place and it’s hard not to lose. That’s the winning combination in my mind. Joey Gibbons, CEO of Gibbons.

Congratulations to Whistler Blackcomb, and the resort of Whistler as a whole – we’re the complete package with our awesome on-mountain attributes coinciding with recognition for après, dining, and off-hill activities.

We’re definitely proud of our 35-year history serving up great celebrations for everyone in Whistler. We truly believe this is one of the best places on earth – we might even raise a few beers and cheers to that!
